LG G Pro 2: First Impressions

LG G Pro 2 was launched in Korea a few days ago and this device was also on display at the Mobile World Congress (MWC 2014). On paper, LG G Pro 2 seems to have everything right. It has a 5.9 inch 1080p IPS display, runs on the Snapdragon 800 chipset running 2.26GHz with 3GB of RAM. It has a 13-megapixel camera which can shoot videos in 4K.
Design and Display
The LG Pro 2 appears to be a durable smartphone. As mentioned earlier, the LG G Pro 2 comes with a 5.9 inch display and it has a mere 0.4mm bezel. The body of the smartphone is made of plastic but it does not feel cheap. Unlike the LG G2, the G Pro 2 has a textured back as a result of which the smartphone does not slip.

Just like the LG G2, G Flex and the G2 mini, this smartphone too has the buttons on the rear. The phone packs in non-removable 3,200mAh battery.

The screen is bright and clear and it has excellent viewing angles.

Using it and Interface
The LG G Pro 2 also comes with Knock on features. This feature as per the company, offers a unique way to unlock smartphones which offers a level of security similar to pattern unlock. LG further claims that there are 80,000 possible combinations to do so!

The LG G Pro 2 runs on Android 4.4 along with the layer of Optimus UI. There are a couple of useful tweaks that LG has added in the phone. The first being the Mini View, which helps you scale the screen down. This feature lets you manage the smartphone more easily with one hand. The user can also adjust this minimized screen as per their preference.

The other interesting add on is the dual Browser, which lets you run two apps side-by-side. This is very similar to the Samsung's Multi Window feature.

LG G Pro 2 comes with a 13-megapixel rear camera which is capable of recording video in up to 4K resolution. The camera also comes with LG's calling OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilization Plus) feature. This is good news for all the Instagram lovers.

Quick Verdict
We did not get enough time with this device, or rather when you are with a device like LG G Pro 2 no matter how much time you spend with it just does not feel enough. We think this is a great device by LG. It seems fast and zippy and we are looking forward to reviewing the device extensively. It will be interesting to see what will be the India price for this one.
